Job Description
Constellation Search Group is seeking a Director of Investment Compliance and Risk for a full-time direct hire position. The Director will be responsible for producing the investment-related portions of risk-based capital (RBC) and the monitoring and reporting of statutory compliance limits. Working closely with various stakeholders within the broader investments organization, the Director will assess the impact on RBC and statutory compliance limits based on proposed investment structures. This dynamic role involves collaborating with senior management to determine the feasibility of new investments by providing necessary supporting analytics and documentation regarding regulatory required capital and creating pro-forma models to project capital across various scenarios.
Responsibilities:
- Produce the investments-related portion of the company's required capital calculation monthly and reconcile required capital inputs to the company's accounting records.
- Maintain accurate data fields such as ratings and statutory classification of assets within the company's systems.
- Identify the treatment of all asset types within the required capital calculation, particularly for Schedule BA investments, collateral-related assets, and reinsurance structures.
- Collaborate with senior management to provide pro-forma and sensitivity analyses for newly proposed structures and conduct relevant research.
- Propose transactions and structures to optimize the company's RBC based on experience and research.
- Participate in industry conferences and meetings to stay updated on RBC developments and provide summary reports on upcoming changes.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of processes and controls for risk-based capital calculation production and review.
- Engage with industry participants and/or NAIC for risk-based capital instructions interpretation, especially for complex transactions.
- Produce statutory compliance schedules according to required state guidelines and internal reporting requirements.
- Understand and interpret statutory guidelines for respective jurisdictions.
- Propose transactions and structures to optimize the company's statutory compliance position.
- Maintain documentation on processes and controls for statutory compliance report production and review.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of the NAIC ratings framework related to the Securities Valuation Office (SVO).
- Ensure accuracy of SVO ratings and review them according to NAIC policies and procedures.
- Create dashboards and reports to monitor changes in ratings and prioritize obtaining SVO ratings.
- Maintain accurate AVR schedules reflecting SVO ratings and ensure components flow correctly to RBC schedules.
- Estimate future expected ratings for unrated positions in pro-forma capital calculations and determine final SVO ratings for securities.
- Participate in project-based initiatives to improve investments workflow by developing reports, leveraging technology, and establishing peer relationships.
- Engage in risk and capital working groups to update stakeholders on industry developments.
