Job Description
Constellation Search Group is seeking a Controller for a full-time direct hire position. The Controller will be responsible for leading the accounting department to support a high-growth multi-site physician group/healthcare system. This position will partner with the CEO and executive team on accounting functions, strategic growth plans, and financial integration of acquisitions. The Controller will be instrumental in orchestrating budgets, forecasts, and producing actionable methods of improvement through data and analytics.
Responsibilities:
- Generate best-in-class accounting, controls, and reporting processes to enable continued growth and value creation for the company.
- Provide accounting leadership by collaborating with the executive leadership team to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans, and policies.
- Assess financial statements to make recommendations for future operational and strategic improvements.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO, executive leadership team, and financial sponsors on growth expectations.
- Utilize organizational leaders to facilitate effective processes and assist in executing financial initiatives for company operations growth.
- Identify improvement areas with key stakeholders to ensure focus on actions needed to achieve strategic goals.
- Collect feedback for continued growth, develop feedback loops, and monitor key KPI metrics.
- Manage all aspects of accounting, including billing, financial statements, general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, tax compliance, and revenue recognition.
- Develop and implement processes, policies, and controls for financial integrity.
- Focus on reducing closing time, prepare for internal and external audits, and meet business reporting goals.
- Oversee AP/AR functions to ensure efficient cash flow.
- Optimize costs and negotiate reductions for the supply chain team.
- Conduct due diligence on mergers & acquisitions and evaluate new locations and partnerships.
- Build and manage a finance team to set and achieve ambitious development goals.
- Review data and translate into conclusions and actionable items for operational improvement.
- Act to surpass goals and drive the aggressive expansion trajectory.
- Serve as a financial and strategic advisor to the CFO, private equity, and leadership team.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or quantitative field is a plus.
- Master's degree (or MBA), CFA, and/or CPA is a plus.
- Background as a Controller in a PE-backed healthcare organization.
- 6 years of accounting experience with a track record of identifying and executing process improvement.
- Experience leading an accounting department with the ability to manage, mentor, and scale a team.
- Deep knowledge of GAAP and related financial accounting practices.
- Experience with financial management software, implementing KPIs, and building processes and systems.
- Ability to think strategically about realistic goals and implementation plans.
- Experience with internal and external audits of financial records.
- Proactive leader and trusted advisor to the executive team.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with a focus on results.
- Proven interpersonal and team-building skills, motivating and developing a positive culture.
- Big 4 or mid-market audit firm experience is a plus.
