Job Description
Constellation Search Group is seeking a Product Development Engineer for a full-time direct hire position. This role involves working closely with the Global New Product Development (NPD) and wider Engineering functions to ensure a smooth transition of strategic projects into manufacturing. The successful candidate will develop and deliver detailed inter-dependency and timing plans, incorporating all major project milestones and critical paths related to brassware product launches.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the R&D function to structure and project-manage new product introductions, business product expansions, or critical activities for seamless production transitions.
- Map product development phased gateways, manage risks and dependencies, and assure on-time delivery of critical project milestones while updating the wider business.
- Work with global NPD and UK Manufacturing Quality functions to meet customer and regulatory requirements consistently.
- Provide technical advice, fault-finding, resolution, and problem-solving support during design, build, and use phases.
- Deliver all pre-manufacturing engineering processes, defining design, manufacture, and assembly rules to support new product launches.
- Oversee prototype builds, including the manufacture or assembly of components, systems, and sub-systems.
- Produce, update, and maintain technical data, including reports, engineering change notifications, test procedures, and all drawings and specifications.
- Support the cross-functional creation and approval of process development documentation, such as FMEA and Control Plans.
- Manage activities to achieve departmental deliverables, including generating 3D CAD models and building BOMs routings.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert for industrial validation, ensuring consistent process application across manufacturing areas.
- Manage all NPD governance, including policies, procedures, and processes.
- Train, develop, and mentor colleagues within the area of expertise.
- Actively support the improvement of Health and Safety practices across the business.
Qualifications: - Minimum 5 years of experience in Product Development within Manufacturing and/or Process Engineering.
- Project Management experience.
- Familiarity with product launch processes and the Core Quality Tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA.
- Experience in a technical product production environment.
- Proficiency in CAD and ability to interpret technical drawings and tolerancing, including GD&T.
- Strong analytical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and part of a team.
- Strong aptitude for hands-on engineering.
