Job Description
Constellation Search Group is seeking an Assistant Controller for a full-time direct hire position. The Assistant Controller will provide organized and detail-oriented professional services for full-cycle accounting support within the Finance division. This role involves supporting the Controller and finance leadership in managing accounting operations and working with contracted companies. Additionally, the Assistant Controller will supervise the accounting team and collaborate with departments to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise staff and provide oversight in various accounting functions.
- Lead the analysis of all financial statements, records, and transactions.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial close processes.
- Identify risk factors and analyze trend information related to business units.
- Oversee the accounting department's operations and spearhead strategy and goal-setting initiatives.
- Handle tax reporting and compliance for payroll, property, sales, and income taxes.
- Conduct cost accounting for GL postings, fixed assets, depreciation, cost-center allocations, prepaid expenses, and accrued liabilities.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and transactional reviews.
- Review and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly AR, AP, and cash reporting.
- Assist with AP, AR, and tax functions and reconciliation as needed.
- Maintain the integrity and administration of the accounting system, ensuring compliance with established controls.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and provide training and feedback to staff and departments.
- Engage in special projects related to software migration and technology adoption.
- Collaborate with executive management and managers to achieve strategic objectives.
- Prepare for and attend meetings with executives, managers, internal departments, and external customers.
- Correspond with banks and other agencies to resolve issues and respond to inquiries professionally.
- Develop and implement cash management and forecasting strategies.
- Manage payroll reporting and payroll tax reconciliation.
- Interface with auditors and coordinate preparation for audits.
- Fulfill contractual commitments to clients through timely and accurate reporting.
- Update and maintain policies and procedures documentation.
- Support positive cybersecurity compliance by adhering to all policies and guidelines.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in accounting operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong analytical skills and excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Proficiency in billing software and in-depth knowledge of billing regulations.
- Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to think creatively and propose innovative process improvements.
