Constellation Search Group is seeking a Senior Accountant for a full-time direct hire position. This role is integral in supporting the financial operations within a Licensed Home Care Services Agency (LHCSA) environment. The selected candidate will be crucial in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring regulatory compliance, and enhancing internal controls across core accounting functions. The ideal candidate will possess experience in healthcare industries and thrive in a mission-driven, fast-paced setting.
Responsibilities:
- Support month-end and year-end close by preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Reconcile revenue and receivables related to Medicaid, MLTCs, private pay, and other funding streams.
- Ensure accurate payroll allocation and reconciliation, especially for field and office staff.
- Maintain and monitor internal controls related to accounts payable, payroll, and revenue recognition.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Assist in budgeting, variance analysis, and preparation of financial reports for management and regulatory agencies.
- Process bi-weekly payroll for office staff, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies and regulations.
- Maintain and update detailed employee payroll records, including pay rates, tax withholdings, and employment status updates.
- Collaborate with billing, payroll, and HR teams to ensure proper coding and financial integration.
- Support audit preparation by compiling documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Document and enhance internal processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with LHCSA regulations.
- Assist with the preparation of cost reports and filings required by NYS DOH or other oversight bodies.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, Sage) and Excel.
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with a high attention to detail.
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- Knowledge of LHCSA/CDPAP program operations and associated payroll practices.
- Experience with GL mapping from payroll systems (e.g., Paychex, ADP).
- Familiarity with financial reporting requirements.
- Experience with multi-entity or multi-funding stream accounting.
