Job Description
Constellation Search Group is seeking a Purchaser/Buyer for a full-time direct hire position. This role is crucial for procuring raw materials, equipment, and services to support the manufacturing organization. The Purchaser/Buyer will manage the supplier base, resolve resource constraints, and take actions to meet established schedules and customer commitments.
Responsibilities:
- Negotiate, process, and monitor standard and blanket purchase orders to achieve savings, minimize unfavorable purchase price variance, assure on-time delivery, and achieve effective inventory management.
- Communicate daily, weekly, and forecasted requirements with suppliers, obtain delivery commitments, reconcile open order requirements, expedite delinquent orders, and notify the appropriate department of any delays.
- Maintain the Supplier and Item Master record in the ERP system, including pricing, lead-times, and minimum order quantities (MOQ).
- Interface with Production, Planning, Customer Service, Sales, Product Management, Accounting, and Quality departments to meet customer requested dates identified by the product schedule.
- Proactively manage finished goods and raw material inventory levels for assigned areas at or below target levels.
- Conduct all purchasing activities in compliance with company policies and objectives, meeting requirements for cost, quality, inventory objectives, and reliability.
- Participate in continuous improvement and cost reduction projects, negotiate with suppliers to reduce purchase, inventory, and shipping costs, including optimizing transportation schedules and order quantities.
- Work proficiently in an MRP environment and support all corporate purchasing initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of purchasing experience.
- Ability to understand and adhere to all laws relating to procurement and contracts.
- Working knowledge of purchasing methods, strategies, and concepts.
- Strong negotiating, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail, time management, and ability to multitask on several projects.
- Strong aptitude for mathematics and proficiency in using Microsoft Office.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and manufacturing personnel.
